Full time/permanent Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Kawartha Cardiology Clinic (KCC), located within the Kawartha Cardiology Clinic in Peterborough, Ontario is accepting applications for a full time/permanent Nuclear Medicine Technologist who either has experience as, or interest in pursuing their Radiation Safety Officer certification to join our team!

The Kawartha Cardiology Clinic (KCC) is a busy, progressive, fully accredited, state-of-the-art facility serving a large geographic population. There are 8 Cardiologists and over 80 clinical and support staff at KCC. KCC works collaboratively with the hospital to provide diagnostic services, offering an extensive range of services including specialized programs in cardiology, vascular, stroke, and diabetes care. This is a full time, Monday-Friday position, no evenings or weekends.

Role Summary:

  • Utilize safe practices in the handling of radioactive and biological materials in compliance with posted notices and CNSC license conditions
  • Use radiation monitoring equipment and perform contamination monitoring and decontamination as required
  • Prepare, assay and administration of radiopharmaceuticals to patients
  • Perform angiocath insertion and intravenous injections
  • Preparing patients to be scanned on the Gamma Cameras; instructing or assisting patients during procedures
  • Perform Nuclear Cardiology testing (ie. myocardial perfusion imaging, resting MUGA, Thallium viability study.)
  • Collaborate with Stress Team to perform safe nuclear stress testing (both Exercise and Pharmacological: Persantine and Dobutamine)
  • Perform ECG gating
  • Maintain appropriate records
  • Communicate with patients, physicians and other staff
  • Maintain membership and attendance on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Reports to Department Lead, Cardiovascular Clinical Coordinator and Executive Cardiologists.

Qualifications:

  • Experience as Radiation Safety Officer an asset (or willingness to certify)
  • Experience in DSPECT camera is an asset, but not required,
  • Compliance with all government regulations
  • Conducts examinations in accordance with KCC and KDI protocols, policies and procedures
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • Current membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) or Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS)
  • Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Registered Nurse – Integrated Vascular Management Clinic – Temporary Mat Leave

Kawartha Cardiology Clinic (KCC) is looking for an experienced RN to join our Integrated Vascular Management Clinic team. We are looking for an exceptional individual who shares our passion to deliver excellent patient-focused care.

This is a temporary full-time Monday to Friday position (maternity leave coverage of approximately 12-18 months, (*with potential to extend*). The ideal candidate will work in collaboration with our cardiologists to provide physical assessment and health teaching and ongoing patient management.

The ideal candidate will have an in depth understanding of cardiovascular health and the issues that arise from vascular disease. The candidate must have demonstrated an ability to teach and support patients and to work as a cooperative team member.

The candidate must have a current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and be a member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario, both in good standing with a minimum 2 years recent cardiac experience (acute care, cath lab, telemetry).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • works in collaboration with cardiologists to provide ongoing patient management and illness prevention
  • performs physical ‘head to toe’ assessments
  • provides health teaching and support to patients
  • analyzes and interprets ECGs
  • analyzes and interprets lab values
  • assess and treat patient symptoms (chest pain, BP changes)

Qualifications:

  • Current, valid registration with College of Nurses (CNO)
  • Current, valid membership with Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certification in Coronary Care 1 (an asset)
  • Excellent knowledge of ECG and arrhythmias interpretation
  • Excellent knowledge of cardiac medications
  • Advanced knowledge of cardiovascular disease, heart failure coronary care and commonly associated comorbidities
  • 2 years recent cardiac experience (Acute Care, Cath Lab, Telemetry)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills

Full-Time Permanent Registered Cardiovascular Technologist

Kawartha Cardiology Clinic (KCC)in Peterborough ON is a busy, progressive facility with 8 Cardiologists and over 100 clinical and support staff, serving a large geographical population. Our facility offers an extensive range of services including specialized programs in vascular, stroke, diabetes and cardiac care.

This is a full time permanent position for a Registered Cardiovascular Technologist to join the Ambulatory Monitoring Department.

Monday to Friday- 8am to 430pm.

Role Summary:

  • Scan and create preliminary holter and blood pressure monitor reports for Cardiologist Interpretation.
  • Apply holter and blood pressure monitors to patients.
  • Patient education
  • Cleaning/Disinfecting/Maintaining equipment.
  • PRHC In-Pt holter hook up (reliable personal transportation needed)
  • Report to the Ambulatory Monitoring Team Lead and Cardiologists as required.

Full-Time Temporary Clerical Support / Medical Records Clerk

Full-Time Temporary Clerical Support / Medical Records Clerk. 9-month temporary position expiring December 2024, with the possibility of extension. 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday shifts.

Role Summary:

The Clerical Support / Medical Records Clerk is responsible for various tasks within the department as required. These tasks may include filing and pulling of paper patient charts for upcoming appointments, paper chart or electronic chart preparation for physician review for patient appointment, retrieving prior records of patients, receiving, and processing incoming paper patient records, tracking the location of patient records, scanning, and attaching medical records for the electronic medical record, and indexing patient records and custodianship for patient chart status assignment and any other clerical support duties as assigned. The successful candidate is expected to work all shifts scheduled and outlined in their employment agreement.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Secretary diploma from a recognized program or experience in a medical office environment preferred.
  • Understanding & Compliance of confidentiality and privacy under the PHIPA.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology & abbreviations.
  • Excellent customer service skills, pleasant positive manner
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize work.
  • Ability to deal professionally, collaboratively, and effectively with physicians, team members and the public.

The clinic is outside the Peterborough hospital and works collaboratively with the hospital to provide diagnostic services. Our facility offers an extensive range of services including specialized programs in vascular, stroke, diabetes and cardiac care. We perform transthoracic echocardiograms, exercise and Dobutamine stress echocardiograms, paediatric echocardiograms, and transesophageal echocardiograms.

The successful applicant must be able to perform high quality transthoracic echocardiograms to assess the cardiac structure and function of the heart. They must be able to provide accurate information to assist the physician with the diagnosis and treatment of patients in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualification and Relevant Experience:

  • Completion of a recognized post diploma echocardiography program or recognized equivalent.
  • Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with CMRITO.
  • Proof of Professional Liability Insurance

Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Kawartha Diagnostic Imaging (KDI) is looking for a skilled and certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our dynamic team!

The successful applicant will be able to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team and will have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, their families, co-workers and physicians.

This is a casual position, one – two days per week, Monday to Friday; no evenings or weekends.
